About water damage repair.
/ 01Is rice actually bad?+
Rice does almost nothing useful and can push dust deep into ports. The damage from water is mostly corrosion + short circuits, not the water itself sitting there. Professional ultrasonic cleaning with isopropyl alcohol is what actually saves boards.
/ 02My phone is "water-resistant" — why does this happen?+
IP67/68 ratings degrade over time, especially after any drop. Older seals weaken, charging port adhesive wears, and salt/soap dramatically shortens the rating. Most water-damage callouts we do are on phones rated for water.
/ 03What's the success rate for water-damaged phones?+
About 80% if you bring us in within 24 hours and 60% if it has been left running. The killer is power going through wet circuitry — that is what fries components for good.
/ 04How much will I pay if you can't recover it?+
No fix, no fee. There is a small diagnostic charge if you want us to attempt board-level repair, but we always tell you upfront before any chargeable work begins.
